Dear Savvy Pet Owner, It's a whole new world out there. The technology is changing at the speed of light and the internet gives you more freedom to be a super savvy consumer. However, the grooming industry has turned off their hearing aides and insist that THEY do it THEIR WAY. Now wait a second, aren't you the consumer? Anyway, you worry about your shaking pet as you drag it to the groomer, wondering what is going on behind the closed doors you are not allowed to pass through..... Your dog is not kennel trained, but you know your dog is put in a hard metal box (no soft bed) surrounded by anxiously barking dogs and screaming cats. Missing out on knowing what other options you have, you feel trapped and have to take THEIR word for it. You don't know how your pet is handling their 4 to 8 hour day at the groomer. You don't know if they are given water, taken potty, or even how long they are locked in a cold metal cage (no soft bed), let alone how hot the cage dryer gets. It's not your fault! You have not had any other options until now..... If you want to discover the experience that your pet will be having? Then, this is the place for you.............. |

Hello, My name is Sarah and I own Happy Tails. I want to give you a little background on me so that you can get some insight into the "Method of my Madness." THE BACK STORY.......I am originally from the nursing industry. Nurses are professionals that are held to high standards by employers, the laws of this country, and the states that administer testing and licensure. Some would believe that the job of a nurse is to give medications (and shots), change bandages, and blot sweat off of brows. Actually, nurses are advocates. I come from a culture where I am expected to be professional and advocate for my clients. When I purchased Happy Tails in 2006, I was thrown for a loop at the lack of professionalism in the grooming industry. I'm used to bending over backward for people, and was in amazement at how customers didn't argue too much when they didn't get what they wanted. I remember one lady who came in a few times. She brought pictures and written instructions that she carefully went over with the groomer. I thought the customer did a good job explaining what she wanted, but apparently the groomer wasn't interested in "getting it." When the customer picked up her dog, I remember her saying, oh well, I can fix it at home. I went through a lot of groomers who "didn't get it." A little more back story.......June of 2008 was the straw that broke the camel's back. The last groomer that worked for me, frustrated me so much. We had a wonderful customer who recently had surgery because of breast cancer. The customer called with instructions on how she wanted her dog's hair cut several days before the appointment. On the day of the grooming appointment, the customer's husband came in (the day she got home from the hospital) with written instructions. I really love my customers and work to the nines to make them happy. Cancer is an enormous diagnosis. I was not going to disappoint. I carefully washed, conditioned, and fluff dried the dog... getting it ready for the groomer to do the haircut. Last Chapter of Back Story.........this groomer (who had been grooming for 14 years) didn't follow the two sets of instructions that were given to her. (I cringe when I remember how angry the customer was.) People (especially my customer's happiness) means a lot to me. I was beyond furious with the last groomer I ever employed. Instead of putting myself at risk for going to jail, I calmly packed up the groomer's tools that evening and called her the next morning to pick up her stuff. I was done. I made a vow to myself NEVER to hire another groomer. I was tired of being held hostage by employees that didn't care about the customers. I rolled up my sleeves and finished my training to be a groomer. I found the best in the area, consulted with national grooming champions and forced myself to know what only the best know. And, I forced myself to have a strict hiring criteria. I will train my employees to follow my vision. Your pet is a part of your family. Everyone involved in their health and well being of your pet becomes members of your family. You deserve grooming staff that is focused on serving you. For Your convenience we created our STANDARDS OF EXCELLENCE With the same high standards (AND PROFESSIONALISM), my staff and I, now advocate for pets by giving them a voice. We are currently revolutionizing the pet grooming industry by: *setting high standards *change perspectives *end abusive grooming practices. Everytime you bring in your dog expect us to have a lot of fun with it. We hope you don't mind that you might get an earfull of how squishy and cute your pet is. Your dog will love getting it's muzzle kissed, and may have the opportunity to lick our eye balls and up our noses. |
